Wednesday 6th August

It was a beautiful sunny, springlike day on Wednesday -That's Carrum for you -beautiful one day - perfect the next! We did have a great day, and surprisingly, for a change, most of us got lots of sewing done as well. Of course, we still managed to chat, sew, eat, drink, buy from the trading table - that's multi tasking for you!

Here are a few shots of the gals hard at work, doing said drinking, eating, sewing & chatting!

Sandra was finishing off her hand quilting on this lovely, hand pieced quilt that she put together some time ago. It will look spectacular when finished - it is being finished, by the way for the "Cottontales" 10th Anniversary quilt show in Belgrave at the end of August - should be a great exhibition.

Sue's own version of a Baltimore quilt - looking even more wonderful with Sue's magnificent machine quilting. This woman is a wonder!

And getting ready for Christmas! Her lovely, but easy to make Christmas Bunting inspired us all!

Sally with her splendiferous pieced swan quilt, from the book "Quilts from Nature" purchsed from our very own trading table some time ago! The fabrics Sally used are just exquisite.

Bronwyn received this great Bali bag from a friendship group she belongs to for a "Special 0" birthday. The makers of the bag all embroidered their names around the top of the bag.

Wednesday 2nd July

It was a great day as usual at Carrum Downs. We were very lucky to have Brenda Dean, her obliging DH & her collection of antique sewing machines, to join us for the day. It was just like an episode of collectors - only better, as we were allowed to see & touch the machines. The photos don't do them justice - such a wonderful lot of beautifully decorated old machines, children's machines ( which some of us actually recognised from our long lost youth) & a couple of things that would make a great "Mystery Item" for the ABC show.

This is a log cabin quilt sewn by Brenda on one of her antique sewing machines.

As you have seen, it really was a day and a half! We welcomed so many "oldies" back for the day - there was so much to talk about - so much to catch up on!

A group photo was taken and will be added to this blog as soon as I receive it - I think we all managed to squeeze in!

And so to next month - our next meeting - a school holiday one, will take place on Wednesday 2nd July - if you are going to be in the area, please come and jon us. Ramona will post the details closer to that date.
