Wednesday 2nd December 2015

Yes, I am aware that this one is more than a leetle bit late. We had some family trauma during December (don't worry, everyone is ok) and it has taken me a while to get back of track. Also, you don't want to know about my tooth abscess - trust me on that.
So, from officially, the most recalcitrant blogger in cyberspace, I bring you the details of our Christmas extravaganza!
Simone had suggested that, this year we all either make our Kris Kringle gifts, or buy or make up a kit. This was a great idea and we got so much out of seeing our gifts appreciated by their recipients. I was so caught up in it all, that no pictures were taken of us opening our gifts, but it really was a special time. Jeanette, as usual, won the Christmas quiz, but we now know who watches SBS the most, with Maggy winning the "Christmas (or equivalent)  in different languages quiz.

Lots of lovely pressies all ready for distribution  - have we all been good this year?

Don't you just love the $2 tablecloth from Woollies?  Some of the early dishes out for morning tea - lunch is in the fridge.

Here Robyn shows up this beautiful felt Christmas decoration. She made it as a result of a Christmas Gifts Day with Gail Pan and Debbie Busby (from Portland Oregon). This is one of Debbie's patterns. I was at the same class and it was, as always, fabulous.

This magnificent quilt, using batik prints, was made by Marita - a Christmas gift for her brother and his wife.

Meanwhile, Virginia's hexagon behemoth continues to grow, and grow. It started off as a cot quilt - just in case you were wondering, but is now going on a King sized bed!

Dianne R has been busy butterfly beading (how's that for alliteration?) and isn't it just lovely? Good work Di

All those hexagons we have seen Bar putting together over the past  year have been turned into this beautiful quilt. Please enlarge this photo and have a good look at her exquisite work

Cynthia (or Madam Cyn as we like to call this dear lady - I will tell all if  get enough champagne), has been stitching beautifully on her owls. Aren't they cute?

This beautiful Christmas brooch was made by Bev. An absolutely brilliant idea, and it looks fabulous

Some beautiful work from Andrea - a lovely felt Santa as well as some lovely hexagon and paper piecing work.

Melody with her baubles - matching her outfit beautifully

Dianne G knitting a summer top

And again wearing a hat - poor Santa got stuck down the chimney!

Here is an almost finished bag from Deidre - very nifty. Love the fabric.

Simone has put this lovely girly quilt together for a friend's daughter. What little girl wouldn't love a quilt like this?

I couldn't resist this masterpiece. This is the result of a class by Judy Newman on her Medallion Quilt at Tree-house Textiles in Mornington. I did the class with my neighbour Karen three years ago. This is Karen's fabulous version of that quilt - totally hand pieced - and about to be quilted. My version - well....

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday February 2nd. Our new starting time is 10am - we have changed from 9.30am - as most people wander in around 10am or later!
We have some really interesting guest speakers lined up this year, in between plenty of our sit and sew days and our biggest morning tea, to be held in May. Hope to see you there.
your roving reporter,
Helen Evans
