Wednesday 4th March 2009

First of all - a couple of reminders for next month - just before the Adelaide retreat - on Wednesday April 1st. Can we bring along FQs to donate to bushfire victims who have lost their stashes - Warrandyte quilters are organising this & we can post a 20kg box (or two) of FQs to help re- establish the fabric stashes those who lost everything in the fires? Also, if we can donate 2 1/2" strips of homespun (already ironed in half) to jan Mac, it would help her put the bushfire blocks together.
Next month is our 11th BIRTHDAY!!!! Please bring a plate to share for a special birthday celebration lunch!
And now to our March meeting. I can only say that we had a wonderful time. It never ceases to amaze me how much fun we can have by just catching up with each other each month. It was a lovely day and a great time was had by all!
Lovely Di Rushbrook saw a couple of cows that she thought I might like - the above magnet cow has pride of place on our fridge.

And this sweet cow now lives on my kitchen bench - thanks so much Di - they are much appreciated. Note cow plates as well!

Robyn made this quilt with cheater panels she purchased from the trading table (from me actually) and has re-arranged them into a beautifully designed quilt. she has done a wonderful job & used much more imagination than I would have thought possible!

Sandra has been using charm squares & Matilda's Own templates to make these cute basket blocks. They look so good, it is has tempted us to either use, or go out and buy charm squares

Virginia made this barrel bag from a Sue Daley pattern. Very effective - she used timtex for stability in the sides. (We all know that feeling!)

Marilyn has just started stitching round this sweet bear block. I know from experience that this works really well.

Fran made this Leesa Chandler "Oriental Hexagon" bag - using this centre panel, instead of the pattern design. A striking bag.

The other side of the bag.

Cynthia's lovely embroidery - beleive it or not, it is pretty much all french knots.

Sue is making a block from the pattern Noah and friends for a friend in her quilting group who is expecting a surrogate baby. Others in the group are making more blocks to make a beautiful quilt.

Dianne I has made these QAYG hexagons with pretty quilting designs on them. Beautiful!

Jan's "badge collection Bag" - most impressive.

The other side!

Bronwyn's "Broken star" - she has done 10 of 30 - will it be finished next month??

Bev's - pretty table runner made with Hana templates in my favourite fabrics.

Dianne - a very pretty sewing machine cover - from a day a Laurel's.

Laurel's hexagon basket WIP - her usual great standard.

Maggy, beginning work on another of her Maggy Walker cat blocks. Very fiddly, but Maggy does them beautifully.

Marilyn's 8 sided pin cushion - what can I say? It is lovely.

Wyn's splendid embroidery - will probably be turned into a bag - but one never knows???

Some beautiful bag sets made for the Breast cancer Comfort Cushion organisation by Marilyn and her friendship group. Very much appreciated.
That's your lot for this month. Don't forget that next month is partay time!!!
