Despite some of our crowd swanning around in Singapore (and we hear there was much “swanning”), we had a wonderful crowd and a fabulous time on our first day back for 2015.

Simone with her Mr Fox block (from Elizabeth Hartnett’s website). She is making a quilt with four Mr Foxes in various guises for her niece’s baby. She has also gone hexagon/fussy cutting mad with this great book.
However Bar is still our hexie queen – she has made of these brilliant QAYG hexagons and has only 9 to go. Will we see the quilt next month? The pretty blocks beside bar’s are (I think) Di R’s and are (I think) headed for a table runner. Please forgive me Di if I am wrong about this – I will bring you a pressie back from Tassie xxx
Cynthia was working on a great stitchery – a reprint of an old post card to make a pillow case – what a lovely idea’ I do hope Myrtle had a happy new year! And here she is with a beautiful hexagon scrap quilt – originally made for her Grand daughter’s 18th birthday, it had been lost for two years and was only discovered when she moved house and it was discovered sedged underneath the lounge. She blames DH’s poor vacuuming. And now she is keeping the quilt – I don’t blame her – it is lovely.
Oh dear – Virginia has been on the hexie steroids again! Apparently this is going to cover a king sized bed. However, after months of whites and creams, we are starting to see some colour – the mystery thickens.
First we have Jan (Welcome Jan) working on her “Dear Hannah/Jane quilt for her daughter Jan – the little blocks are exquisite. And the, from the Gail Pan appreciation society (Of which many of us are members!) Robyn shows us some beautiful stitcheries she has put together from attending Gail Pan stitching day – the fab one in the middle is designed by our very own Ramona xxx
Here is Maggy’s challenge block for Bay quilters – a cute foundation pieced block if I ever saw one. Laurel is working on the centre of her Jane Austen diamond quilt – looking beautiful so far. and we have some very pretty stitching from Wendy too.
The most glittering item of all our show and tell was Deidre’s engagement ring. A lot of things can happen over the Christmas break! Congratulations to Deidre and her very handsome fiasco xxx
Dianne is putting together this wonderful quilt for her grand daughter (or big blanket as her g/d calls it) using very pretty fabric and with lovely Ohio stars for the border. And this is my Chook quilt – Maggy Walker’s Country Journal (Journey?). A UFO purchased at the Hobart retreat in 2000. This year I have a cunning plan – one UFO then one new project, continuing in that order. Don’t let me forget!!! Currently I am stitching the leaves around the vine. Sandra McLay – where is yours – purchased at the same time – Ramona told me to ask you.

Other quilters/scrap bookers/crafters are invited to sell as well – bring along a card table (or two) and plenty of change. Everything must be clearly marked and CHEAPLY priced. $10 per stall.

Gold coin donation towards Ovarian Cancer Research. Proceeds from some stalls and payments for stalls will be entirely for this charity, including a GREAT value “Lucky Dip” for sewers with a few surprises. Proceeds from some stalls will be for other charities too.
