Wednesday 4th November 2015

The Scquilters who braved our Oaks Hat day, are all lined u in the starting boxes- ready to run. Jeanette had the highest handicap, dressing, as she did, for the 1920 Cup.

Jeanette's accessories, including mandatory gloves and the Box Brownie to record this gala event.

The two entries above were late scratchings. According to the stewards, the first one (mine) was a safety issue- as one of the horses may be too interested in the carrot on top, and the second (Marilyn's) one, on account of its resemblance to a spider - which may startle horses and jockeys alike. Jockeys in particular.

First past the post  (by half a hat from Jeanette) was Dianne. No words are necessary to describe this wonderful creation.

If you enlarge this pic and look VERY carefully, you can see that Helen (I) have started knitting yet another dishcloth in a very pretty lavender cotton from Bendigo Woolen Millls.

Another beautiful GFG from Bev - with a gorgeous rose in the centre.

Cynthia is still working on her beautiful winter stitchery - a mammoth effort.

Such skillful knitting by Deidre - knitting baby clothes to send to Africa. Just lovely.

Jeanette has been working on the border of the quilt she is making - designed by Di Ford. Splendiferous!

From little strips big strips grow and voila - here is Jo with  this superb quilt. I trust your tub of scraps is somewhat reduced - beautiful border fabric too.

Maggy has made this fabulous quilt for her great grandchild in England. It is an absolutely beautiful quilt for a child of any age. Welll done, Maggy.

Di has made this terrific Christmas stitchery. It is fantastic!

Here, Marilyn W. has decorated one of Dijanne Ceval's medieval lady lino- cuts. Unbeliebly great work by both ladies. The stitching is just superb.

From Marilyn again, a very clever quilt made with 7 FQs. It is to be donated to Quilts of Valour Australia. Thankyou Marilyn.

This one came from Shirley's phone. Isn't it lovely? Did Shirley make it, or her sister Jean? Must find out.

And last but not least, this beautiful Cowell is being knitted by Wyn, in her usual fabulous style. It is for one of her grand children or great grandchildren - I think.

And so, until next time, when, on Wednesday 2nd of December 2015 we will be having our Christmas extravaganza.

Please bring along:

Yourselves wearing something Christmassy - it can be either underwhelming or overwhelming - or just red and/or green.

A small plate of food to share for lunch.
A home made or something in kit form gift for our Pressie swap.
An open mind to engage in our usual festivities, quizzes, caroling etc.
A decoration to add to the Christmas atmosphere if you have something lying around at home.
Any other Scquilters in the area - south east of Melbourne - well within 1000 kms.

From your roving reporter,
Helen Evans
