I know this month's blog is a tad late - I do apologise - I temporarily lost the photos, but wonder of wonders, they turned up just in time (on the C drive!). So here are the details of our first get together for the year. It was lovely to see everyone again and catch up on what we have all been doing. You can see for yourselves now what we have been up to - if my writings vary a tad from the actual facts of the Show & Tell, please forgive me - my note taking "skills" are such that, the longer the time since the writing, the less I can read what I have written!

Pam's wondrous new quilt top - Maggy had fiddled around on EQ and came up with this block, which Pam has used to great effect for her Magic Carpet quilt. It does look like a magic carpet doesn't it?
Pam's girfriend made her this quilt for Christmas - she took photos of Pam's cat and then did these wonderful stitcheries.

Jo's magnificent 12 year old (just finished though!) Round Robin. Jo made the centre block using Jinny Byer's raw edge applique method - according to Jo, she had trouble with it, but to us it looked just fabulous! Of course some of the best quilters in the country work on various "rounds" has to help the final outcome!
This is a beautiful quilt, made by Jo for her mother's 80th birthday. Jo named it "Paws in the Garden" as her mother was heartbroken when she could no longer work in her garden in NZ. At the time of our meeting there had been talk on the Scquilters list about unappreciated quilts. Jo's mother had not made a big deal of her quilt and had kept in in the linen closet. On every visit home Jo, dissapointed to find it still in the cupboard, would try to persuade her mother to use the quilt, but she wouldn't - it was too good!
Sadly, Jo's mother passed away on Boxing Day 2008. At her funeral this quilt was placed on her mother's coffin, on her mother's instructions. It had meant so much to her, that she had asked Jo's sister that it be placed there. So, Jo's message was not to judge someone's feeling and appreciation for a quilt by way they use, or don't use it. I would like to thank Jo for sharing this emotional story with us and reminding us to give freely and not worry too much about what is done with our quilts.
Virginia used the Spectacular scraps book for inspiration in making this lovely stash busting quilt. The only fabric she bought for it was for the backing. Well done!
Sally has finally finished restoring and completing this Grandma's Flower Garden quilt - originally made with what appears to be 60s & 70s fabrics. We all agreed that she has done a wonderful job.

Wendy and her fellow golf playing quilters did this BOM last year, which was available on the internet. A wonderful collection of stars and, as usual Wendy has used fabulour fabrics.
What is this - you ask? Well, I shall tell you. Ramona lost this dilly bag - as well as all the useful goodies, projects etc therein - whilst camping at Inverloch in 2006. Miraculously, it reappeared in the boot of her father's car over Christmas - natch she is thrilled, although she doesn't quite remember what pattern the project she was working on is from!
Bronwyn made this great dissapearing 9-patch for her lucky grandson. Love the colour combination.
Yet another wonderful quilt from Marilyn. Leesa Chandler's "Oriental Pink" - done, of course in blues. Such wonderful stitcheries - the close up shows one of the four letters - for Summer, autumn, winter and spring.

Kate made this for the Husquvana challenge with her embroidery machine (a Pfaff!).

Speaking of the Perth retreat - here is Laurel's quilt made form the Perth sig squares - lovely.
This strange creature - Edna the emu (from Homespun magazine) was made by me - Helen E. as a result of a challenge for my Tuesday night group in the Shed to use a particular fabric. I used it for Edna's legs. Please also note the tiara - this is because Edna will be attending the Saturday night dinner at the Adelaide retreat, as my final gift to my "lucky" mortal - can you wait????
The following items were all made as a result of a Paper Bag challenge for our Monday group at the Cranbourne Community Centre - the N.Q.R. quilters. I am sure you will agree they are most innovative.
Pam's dolls - Peace & Unity! Most innovative, particularly in the use of part of the doiley on Peace's (or is it Unity's) head!
My bag - another Homespun pattern. If you are wondering where the doiley, spangles, fuzzy balls, lace etc are - they are on the inside.

Angelic activity on a grand scale, when Sharyn Casper ventured all the way from Numurkah to finally meet her mortal. After much hilarity we were all eliminated from contention, except for Dianne Mitchell. Di being the only mother of twins in the room! Sharyn did look a treat!
