Wednesday 2nd July

It was a great day as usual at Carrum Downs. We were very lucky to have Brenda Dean, her obliging DH & her collection of antique sewing machines, to join us for the day. It was just like an episode of collectors - only better, as we were allowed to see & touch the machines. The photos don't do them justice - such a wonderful lot of beautifully decorated old machines, children's machines ( which some of us actually recognised from our long lost youth) & a couple of things that would make a great "Mystery Item" for the ABC show.

This is a log cabin quilt sewn by Brenda on one of her antique sewing machines.

Brenda with just a few of her collection!

Brenda also showed us some absolutely stunning traditional Molas she had purchased while in Central America

Bronwyn's hand pieced hexagon shaped quilt made in a class by Julie Wallace at a Phillip Island retreat.

"Perfect"Pam with her "before"

"Perfect" Pam with the "after" quilt! Pam bought "Wonderful 1 Fabric Quilts" by Kay Nichols & this is the result!!

Bronwyn Van't. with her 18 year old daughter's birthday quilt - fabrics chosen by daughter - magnificently quilted by Desley Regan.

Yet another "fetching" shot of me with my Candlewick cushion - from an old Country Craft issue.

Fran Cox's ATC's - I wouldn't say she is addicted..........

Jennifer - missed our anniversary meeting so she brought along some "oldies" today! This is her sewing room holder for all her rulers etc etc & beautiful embroidery.

Her vest - can you tell which era it is from?????

Lovely embroidery on her vest.

A couple of shots of her wall hanging made with Sally's "Flying Free" class - note the quilted swan!

Bar with her jelly roll tea pots!!

Sally with her new winter bag, because her old one wore out.

Virginia with her stunning depiction of, and I quote " The Pharos lighthouse at Dover Castle in the UK, AD 646 (Roman). For her brother - lucky bugger!

As you can see, it was a wonderful day - see if you can join us next time - Wednesday 6th August - look out for details from Ramona on the Scquilters list!
